14 The After Party: Living Room
>> Tuesday, March 2, 2010
We’re getting there! Of course there are lots of bare spots where wall art needs to be hung and little to-do’s still haunting our dreams, but I’d like to think our living room has certainly improved over the past 4 weeks…
Let’s saunter down memory lane for a moment, shall we?
The before shot. Note the green carpet, lack of overhead lighting and of course, the lovely wall mural lingering in the background…
First we focused our efforts on removing wallpaper and painting the walls. With a built in drop cloth of green carpeting, painting was a breeze. Removing the wallpaper on the other hand…
Once the rooms were painted, it was time to bring in Mike the hardwoods guy. All that glory buried for so many years. Just heavenly…
Finally, adding much needed light to the space with recessed lighting pulled everything together. We tall gals tend to knock our noggins on light fixtures so this is one room that keeps my head bump free…
Which leads us to…
There you have it! The living room is up and running (for the most part). What do you think?

Whoa! I cannot even believe that this is the same house!
Love it! Especially the lighting.
This cannot be the same room! No way.
Thanks, friends! We can hardly believe how far it has come in just 4 short weeks!
Alicia, I must confess. We decided to install the lights the day before we moved in. You would not believe the amount of sheetrock dust that was left behind. It looked like it snowed inside our house!

Nice! Love the wall color! Do you remember where you got it?
Hi Shelly, thanks for the compliment on the wall color! It is called Napery from Sherwin Williams. We wanted a warm creamy semi-neutral without getting too yellow.

Gorgeous! Love the color!
Thanks Cara Beth!

Holy cow! AMAZING!!!
Very nice! Your hardword definitely paid off on this one. The red accents are eyecatching.
*I mean hardwork :)
Love the redo! The hubs infamous sleep talker)and I want to put in recessed lighting in our living room at some point.
Thanks paisley penguin! We absolutely love the lighting (especially since we would be sitting in the dark otherwise) but the sheetrock dust I was not a fan of.
Thanks for stopping in!

Your living room feels so light and open. I like to combination of light walls, rug, and curtain panels witht the dark furniture very much. Such great ideas!
