2 Note to Self: Plants Need Water
>> Saturday, January 2, 2010
I feel the need to preface this post by saying that never in my twenty-some-odd year old life have I claimed to have the greenest thumb on the block. In fact, the sad gardening truth is that my thumb is actually a very murky shade of brown.
I know it is not that hard to keep a tree alive and yes, I probably should have watered it more in one month’s time than I actually did—I will not reveal to you how many drinks I offered our tree during his stay, but I will say it was less than the number of fingers needed to make a peace sign.
Wilty and pathetic, I know BUT don’t feel too sorry for this guy yet. Oh yes, he had his revenge.
Once all of my Christmas darlings were plucked from the branches…
And nestled in snuggly for a long year’s nap…
Our old pal, Christmas tree declared war. With every wiggle and shake of a branch, General Tree launched grenades of dry needles in every direction…
When all was said and done, we ended up with one heck of a mound of tree debris—along with a few duck guts from a certain four-pawed fellow’s toy basket. Ralph blamed her death on world-war-tree, but I think I know who the real culprit is here. RIP Mrs. Duck…
Lesson learned. Plants need water. Next year I’ll be a better hostess.
