I’m never ashamed to steal a good DIY from a fellow blogger. To quote P. Allen Smith on my recent adventure to Moss Mountain Farm: We’re all just a bunch of poachers really.

You have no clue how ready to poach I was when I saw fellow DIY blogger Shanty-2-Chic’s post about transforming a cheapo mirror into this tall beauty for just $15…



This is one poached DIY project that is definitely going to make an appearance in this construction site.

2 Mailbox Before & After

When my pal, Corey, offered to donate her junky mailbox to the LTHL Rehabilitation Station, she made an offer I couldn’t refuse. Even though I flipped my own mailbox a couple of years ago (click here for the details on that fab rehab), my inner DIY glutton convinced me I needed another.

 
Bring on the rehab. First up, a little soak in a tub of dish soap to remove any grease and grime that would keep paint from sticking to the metal. Some people dry dishes next to their kitchen sink. Clearly, I’m not that person.

 
Outside to bask in a coat of spray paint…


Followed by a date with a strip of sandpaper to roughen up the edges and front and let a little of the brass underneath shine through…

 
In all my rehabbing years, I’ve yet to get a chevron pattern in on the action. Way overdue. A little sketch (I’ll show you how I got the stripes even in another post)…

And a cute little knob that I picked up from Hobby Lobby over a year ago…


 
I’ve decided to give in to my urge to hoard mailboxes and am keeping this little guy in my kitchen to house bills, sunglasses, magazines and help keep June Bug’s puppy ears free from profanity when I run around the house scrambling for my keys.

2 A Faux Reno

With the palette I dragged home a few weeks ago already transformed into a precious pair of DIY bookshelves for my kitchen, I couldn’t leave his partner in crime hanging out in the carport all by their lonesome. I had big plans for this mannequin stand—an estate sale steal for $10!

I knew its cute details and vintage charm would lend themselves perfectly to a new life as a floor lamp…

But let’s be honest, life around the construction site can be crazy town at times, and with one fabulous mailbox revamp the main focus of my DIY brain cells this week (check back tomorrow for the reveal!) I wanted to give this soon-to-be-lamp a purpose with little effort for the time being. Have my cake. Eat it too.

Soooo…I found a lampshade tucked away in a closet…

And wheeled this bad boy into my master bedroom right next to those darling divas I framed up earlier in the week.

Someday he’ll be able to shine his little lamp heart out, but for now, I feel really good about him just looking the part.

1 Mail Call for Help

With rain putting a mega damper on my rehabbing plans for the week, I was happy to wake up bright and early to a morning where I could put my spray paint skills to work. Let the mailbox rehab officially begin!



What’s in store for this beauty? I’m not entirely sure. This is definitely one of those projects where I take off running without sight of the finish line, but one thing is for certain, a chevron pattern is getting in on the action.

0 Raining Girls and Twirls

With a serious rainstorm crashing my Monday evening date with a much-in-need-of-a-face-lift mailbox and a can of spray paint, I needed another project to occupy my rehab hungry fingers. Fortunately for me, there are no shortage of projects around this construction site, but I was in the mood for something pretty. Less drywall and sandpaper. More primp and polish.

A couple of years ago, I snagged two lovely sketches from my wonderful Gran’s house. Some of my favorite items came directly from my Gran’s and truth be told, I’m a little embarrassed that I let these pretty house guests collect dust for so long.



Nothing a couple of 50% off Hobby Lobby frames couldn’t cure.

Good news for all. My thrifty DIY urge was satisfied for the day and these lovely ladies get the chance to strut their stuff in my master bedroom.

0 Life Outside the Construction Site

I had a wonderful time catching up with good friends this weekend in St. Louis for my good pal Lindsey’s big bachelorette bash. So. Much. Stinkin’. Fun.



As all fun weekend getaways tend to do, little got accomplished around the construction site. But no worries at all dear friends. I have a killer mailbox rehab and (fingers crossed) one heck of a lamp revamp on it way this week.

1 Just Sold: Meredith’s First Home

A big big BIG congratulations to my very good gal pal, Meredith, on her first home! It’s a no brainer that we would’ve had a blast finding her first place, and that we did!



I can’t wait for Mere to get settled and for us to celebrate her big buy with a bottle of wine on the back porch. Congrats, friend!
