3 Progress/The Before Tour: Backyard

Before we head out to the backyard, we’ll catch you up on our weekend progress. Anything look different?




Wahoo! So much lighter & brighter already. Let’s prime and paint this bad boy!…and clean up the pile of 1968 hanging out in the middle of the room.

I wish I could give you the step by step how-to, but we didn’t lift a finger for this project. We Wilkersons are packing up and moving in just 3 short weeks and didn’t need a DIY sheetrock debacle to throw us off track. Our friend Fernando stepped in to help out with this one. If you need his number, let us know. He works miracles.

6 The Before Tour: Guest Bedroom & Bath

Before tour day 3 coming at ya! Now that we’ve knocked out all the living areas, let’s mosey on over to the guest bedroom & bath…

The bedrooms will be the easy part. Once the hardwood floors are refinished, walls painted and light fixtures updated, this guest bedroom will be good to go. An easy redo before we tackle the guest bath…

This bath is pretty self explanatory. It all has to go.

A perfectly functional bathroom—other than the 5’6’’ shower head that this 5’9” gal has to squeeze under each day—the pink is just not quite our style. We are dreaming up a guest bath with a more clean & contemporary feel.

6 The Before Tour: Master Bedroom & Bath

Rounding up the interior of our Before Tour is the master bedroom! A true master suite complete with a walk-in closet and full bath, let’s check it out shall we?

 
Much like the guest bedroom, all we need here in the master is a little polish & shine. Spiff up the hidden hardwood floors, slap on a few coats of paint and we’re in business!

Catch a sneak preview of the hardwoods in the master closet…(big dramatic sigh)…I fall in love all over again.

The master bath needs some love in a bad way, but we’ll make it happen! At least it’s a smidgen of a step up from our pink lady of a guest bath.

6 The Before Tour: Kitchen & Den

Alright, now that you have had one whole day to recover from your introduction to our new living & dining rooms, we feel that you are much more prepared for what you will encounter in the next two stops of our before home tour. We’re kitchen & den bound!

 

 

Welcome to our kitchen. Our dark kitchen. Our no-way-will-Cara-ever-find-her-way-around-should-she-stumble-in-without-her-contacts/glasses kitchen.

Like the pink countertops? As we continue our tour throughout the coming days, you’ll find that this hue was obviously a favorite of the builder.

 
Yesterday, we definitely found a Gone with the Wind theme going on in the dining room. In the kitchen however, I am gravitating more towards Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The scene where the kids encounter the lickable wallpaper?

The oranges taste like oranges, the rasberries taste like rasberries, the shnozberries taste like shnozberries!


Next stop, the den! This was immediately our favorite room in the house for the several reasons…

1. Only room with hardwoods already exposed
2. A very handsome fireplace would make for cozy reading
3. We Wilkersons require a home office and this space was will be Realtor perfection

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the paneling. It needs to go and is being ripped out and replaced with sheetrock as we speak! We can’t wait to reveal our new light and bright office very soon!

4 Scary Monster

Welcome to our laundry room. Don’t recall seeing this room on the before tour? You are not mistaken my friend. Never before has such scariness been featured on the LTHL. I think it is high time we crack into conquering this space…maybe this weekend. You in, E-Dub?

0 Year End Recap

Holy smokes. 2012 has been one year overflowing with craziness. There are so many happening that I could recap before the clock strikes midnight and we kick off the new year. To save my wrists from a fate of carpal tunnel and my blog server from crashing with an overload of photos, let’s revisit just one highlight from each month of 2012.

January: Oh, January. You bone chilling month, you. Why not kick off a kitchen remodel during the coldest month of the year when all you crave is warm comfort food that can’t be cooked in a demo-ed kitchen. Why not?



February: The kitchen revamp continues, with refaced cabinets, new quartz counters, stainless appliances and a subway tile backsplash…and a ton of learning lessons along the way.


 
March: March brought with it much needed relief from the chilly temps with a trip down to Costa Farms in sunny Miami where this brown thumb spent several days strolling through fields of flowers and making new friends from around the blog-o-sphere.



April: Live The Home Life celebrated its 3rd Birthday with a Happy Birthday house tour. So much has changed around the old construction site since then, but it’s still fun to revisit the pictures of my house in its before state and see how far we’ve come. Click here for the tour.



May: So much fun stomping around P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain farm as a guest at the Bean2Blog event. I took too many pictures of this amazing wonderland of flowers and folly to post today, so click here to head over to May’s post dedicated solely to the fun had at the farm.

June & July: Wedding bells were ringing and this dedicated bridesmaid was shaking her tail feather at every reception. My all time record number of weddings for the year, the boyfriend and I can successful proclaim ourselves as Wedding Warriors.



August: Another year older and another year wiser. Happy Birthday to me.


September: Adios, amigos! The boyfriend and I were off on a Mexican scuba adventure with the fam.


 
October: By far the most action packed month of the year for yours truly, my real estate company, The Property Group opened its doors for business.

November: The boyfriend and I moved in together and the joining of our home tastes was remarkably easy. He’s the wonderful type of fella who lives by the “if you like it, I like it” way of life (for the most part). To show my appreciation, I decided to “man up” the den a bit.

 

And finally…December: This Christmas brought with it so much excitement. Not only was I lucky enough to spend a holiday season with wonderful family and friends, but my precious niece, Louisa, was born smack dab in the middle of the biggest snow storm we’ve ever seen. Who needs power when such a sweet little face can send so much light into the world.
