DIY breakfast table rehab…check. DIY breakfast chairs recovered…double check.
But we are still looking a little bare in these parts.
Remember that shabby little palette I dragged home last week? Time to bring this rugged fella inside transformed into a pair of cookbook/wine shelves for my kitch.
I started by cutting the palette into sections using a jig saw…and used a good ol’ handsaw to clean up a few cuts, but not necessary until you too are anal enough to allow a roll of toilet paper turned the wrong way keep you up at night.
Two horizontal slats per shelf…
With no board across the bottom, books/bottles would slide right out, so I used a few left over scraps of wood from the palette to make a bottom for each shelf. The slat were already the perfect size, so just a few nails were needed to secure them in place.
Perfect…finished! This rehab was a breeze. A few cuts. A few nails and your in business.
Let’s hang these stud muffins.
And fill their bellies with all kinds of goodies.
I’m planning to whip up another post to cover how I hung these palette princess, but here’s the pre-post skinny: I’m not 100% sure I went the best route so a re-hang may be in my near future…hopefully without a crash before I’m able to get to it. I’d better go take those wine bottles down.

This DIYer could not be more excited about the two newest guinea pigs to join the Rehabilitation Station…
My thoughts on the old mannequin stand/victim #1 are that it would make a killer floor lamp with a little tweaking…
And with all of the fab ideas flowing out of Pinterest with what to do with wooden pallets, finding the perfect rehab plan for this guy will be a child’s play.

Remember this adorable little fella that made his debut in the LTHL Shop earlier in the week?
Ever since he rolled into the construction site, those big sad eyes have been killing me. Sure, I talk all the time about how my furniture rehab projects “speak” to me, but no rehabbed dining chair has ever had such a pitiful gaze. I couldn’t take it any more. This nugget was next in line for a trip to the Rehabilitation Station.
On a whim, I remembered that I had a half empty can of white gloss spray paint let over from a recent lamp revamp…
…and I always have a sheet of plywood hanging around the backyard (much to the confusion of my yard guy: I mean, Cara? You do realize you’re crushin’ any hope of growing grass in this part of the yard don’tcha?) for impromptu spray paint emergencies just like this one…
I felt the stars align and it was high time this little guy found himself a permanent perch in this construction site of mine.
I think this is the part of the post where I officially proclaim this little find as SOLD.
What: Neighbor stalking window
Where: Dining room
When: That time of year again
Why: The thermometer hits 70 and my across the street neighbor insists on mowing his lawn topless. It’s going to be a long summer.
