Eight Properties Listed on National Historic Register

Eight more Arkansas properties have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the country's official list of historically significant properties, Frances McSwain, program director for Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, announced Tuesday.

The newly listed properties are:

  • Lepanto Commercial Historic District at Lepanto in Poinsett County, featuring buildings dating to 1915.
  • Old School Presbyterian Church at Van Buren in Crawford County, a Gothic Revival-style structure built in 1903.
  • Carver Gymnasium at Lonoke in Lonoke County, a 1957 structure that served the city's African-American children.
  • Emmet Methodist Church at Emmet in Nevada County, a 1917 structure designed in the Colonial Revival style of architecture.
  • St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church at DeValls Bluff in Prairie County, built in 1912 in a vernacular interpretation of the Carpenter Gothic style of architecture.
  • Carl Bailey Co. Building at North Little Rock in Pulaski County, built around 1945 with an International-style design.
  • Old U.S. 71 - Jenny Lind segment near Jenny Lind in Sebastian County, a two-lane concrete highway constructed between 1927 and 1929.
  • University of Arkansas Campus Historic District at Fayetteville in Washington County, containing buildings dating to 1875.
