6 We Know What Fun Is

>> Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Now don’t think that all we do around these parts is sand, paint, demo and craft. No way. We know how to kick back and have a little fun too. Just take June’s highly effective “sit & stay” lesson for example…

See? I don’t lie. A barrel of monkeys. Jealous much?

1 A Little LTHL Dialogue

>> Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Someone is ready for the Sugar Bowl. With Gran as a newly converted Razorback, Bobby Petrino can rest easy knowing that we have this secret weapon up our sleeve…

.

…and yes, I do realize how difficult of a time I have saying the word “mimosa”. It’s equally as big of a struggle for me to spit out “thoroughly”, “many people” and “number one original with an unsweet tea”—and no matter how many times I slip up, those Chick-fil-a employees are just so darn precious.

3 A Farewell to Wallpaper

>> Tuesday, August 10, 2010

What made my home loving heart smile yesterday?…

That’s it, friends! Every last inch of 1960s wallpaper has been removed from this house. Bring on the primer…

Removing wallpaper and slapping on a solid coat of primer in under two hours has to be some kind of record. I’m thinking a sash and crown are in order…Fine. I’ll be happy with a paintbrush and spackle.

This is Newman.
Newman is serving as an active member of the Wilkerson Zoo while my parents are scuba diving their hearts out in sunny Mexico.
I think he likes it here.

5 We’re Diggin’ It

>> Monday, April 12, 2010

In the midst of such wondrous weekend weather, we had no choice but to spend a little time outside in the backyard.

With the back flower beds lined and mulched and the crape myrtles not quite ready to strut their stuff,

we were in need of a little color.

(Our best Googling tells us those handsome fellows lining the fence are crape myrtles, can anyone tell?)…

So Eric got down to some serious Saturday gardening business. Ralph & June helped too…

Thanks, E-Dub! Now grow little ones, grow!

8 Road Trip

>> Sunday, March 28, 2010

We’ve broken a record! Sunday @ 6:26 pm is officially the latest first blog post of any day in Live the Home Life’s nearly one year old little life. Not a good record in my book, but a record nonetheless. Why so late on the posting, Mrs. Wilkerson? I’ll allow Gran to explain my absence…

We scooted our boots on down to Garland, Texas (right next door to Dallas) for a quick overnight trip. You see, a few months back my dear sweet Gran moved to Little Rock to be closer to her dear sweet family, but we needed to make one last trip down south to pick up a few more things from her house before she sells it and officially becomes an Arkansan.

As part of her downsizing efforts, Gran set aside a number of her belongings for we grandkids. The Rehabilitation Station was jumping for joy over the treasures found in Gran’s garage. I’ll fill you in later this week on what’s coming home to casa Wilkerson. You may be surprised by a few of the items I picked out…

2 Back on Track

>> Monday, December 7, 2009

IMG_3269 Remember that one time I swore up down left and right that I was going to be ahead on gift buying AND wrapping this year? Well, last night 3/4 of the Wilkerson zoo and I sat down to keep this gift wrap train on track. Ralph, June and Marlo were all excellent helpers. Tooty the Scrooge stayed away. We’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she’s a bit camera shy…

I think poor Ralph was under the impression that all of the gifts were for him. Bless his pea-pickin’ heart.

2 Test Run: Martha’s Leaf Placemats

>> Thursday, October 8, 2009

So we gave Martha Stewart’s leaf placemats a whirl earlier in the week—see previous blog post here—and overall, they made for a pretty simple craft. Nothing more than a little tracing and cutting involved…

IMG_2979 IMG_2987

At first, I wasn’t sure if I would use them, but after a while they really grew on me and will definitely be put to use at some point this fall—my family should note, however, that this is not an offer to host Thanksgiving this year, but I would be happy to provide a plethora of leaf placemats to whomever the host may be.

If  you also decide to take on this craft, be sure to send photos my way. I can’t wait to see!

2 TLC's My First Home in Little Rock

>> Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Watch out people. Big star coming through. Mr. Wilkerson would prefer no pictures please. Only kidding, but Eric and one of his buyers, Justin Parkey, were featured on TLC's hit show My First Home this spring.

Last October, after being selected to appear in the show, the TLC crew rolled into Little Rock to begin a week of filming. In the episode, Justin, a recent Pepperdine law school graduate, is planning his move back to Arkansas from California. In need of a home in the Hillcrest/Stifft's Station area, Eric and Justin set out to find his first place. The 30 minute TV show chronicles the ups and downs of Justin's journey to make his dream of becoming a homeowner a reality.

During taping, Eric was able to capture a few "behind the scenes" photos...

In case you missed Eric and Justin's TV debut, we've included the full episode below for your viewing pleasure. See if you can spot Little Rock eateries Boulevard Bread & Satellite Cafe...

Doesn't this fine city of ours look amazing on TV? Not only was Justin able to snag a great home in Stifft's Station before it even came on the market, but since the show he has completely remodeled the interior. Perhaps we should do a bit of blog snooping around his fabulous place in the near future...
