1 Gotta get that bloom bloom BLOOM!

>> Tuesday, February 12, 2013

Every year around this time, I get a serious hankering for spring. Warm temps, green yards, a chance to dust off these pasty white legs.

Last month, I feed my gotta-have-a-little-springtime-in-my-life craving by planting a few amaryllis bulbs. Being the brown thumb I am, I was more than pumped when they actually bloomed! Check out the stems on these gals.

I seriously only watered these bulbs three (maybe four) times since I planted them one month ago. Long legged, super low maintenance—what’s not to love?

Want a few of your own? Click here to snag a bulb or two.

5 Two is Better than One

>> Friday, October 8, 2010

Happy Friday, ya’ll! Let’s wrap up this work week with a little table talk…

image
Before, these two awkward corners in my living room were looking awfully bare and had been on the forefront of my rehabbing brain as I bounced from thrift store to thrift store over the past few months…

…but nothing was grabbing me by the heart strings, begging to be loaded into the Prius and hauled home to my construction site. Until, this hot little number waltzed into my life…

Slap a sold sticker on it, baby, because this once-a-dining-room-table was mine!

Now, before we dive into all of the decorating goodness, let’s take a brief intermission and talk about why this dining room table would actually work as two console tables.

Lucky for me, the third leg on both halves of the table were positioned so that each side could stand on its own without additional support…

Alright, now back to the good stuff!…

Have a great weekend, ya’ll! Knock out a few home projects of your own…AND send before & after shots my way so that we can do the “you did it!” happy dance together!

5 LTHL House Tour: Living Room Revisit

>> Monday, October 4, 2010

This weekend while working around the house, I realized it’s been far too long since I brought you up to speed on my living room. It’s changed a bit over the past few months and around these parts, I like to make sure that my LTHL friends are kept in the loop.

And—just for Monday morning kicks—let’s revisit the before shot of my living room from a few months ago. Remember this frightening scene?…

If that’s not enough to scare the Halloween socks right off your feet, I don’t know what is. Bring on the pretty!…

Check back later this week and we’ll discuss the details of this room, like how I scrounged up the pair of fabulous black tables for under $50!

1 Rehabilitation Station: Door Restore

>> Wednesday, September 15, 2010

When I saw this lonesome fella hanging out by himself at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, I knew I had to load him into my Prius and take him home to meet the other members of the Rehabilitation Station.

Gotta love a hatchback…

Not a huge project, really just in need of a clean up. I was keeping the door handle…

…and the hinges…

…but let’s be honest with our true feelings. The horrendous mini blinds on the backside had to be kicked to the curb.

Now happily residing in my living room, this guy is living the dream. Just between the two of us, I think he has his eye on one of the window triplets.

6 Our Friends are Famous

>> Monday, June 7, 2010

Watch out. Someone in our home is skyrocketing to superstardom.

While giving our coffee table a good dusting this morning, I spotted a familiar face. Excuse me, a familiar body.

Our mannequin is famous! As the cover girl for one of my favorite coffee table books/trash-to-treasure bible, I can’t believe I didn’t recognize those curves before now.

Even with a little wear and tear over the years, she’s still looking pretty good. But let’s just keep that between you and I. If she had a head, it would be the size of a hot air balloon.
