0 Real Estate Reality?

>> Wednesday, September 30, 2009

imageBravo really knows how to keep me coming back for more.

With the season 3 premiere of Million Dollar Listing lurking around the corner, Josh Flagg, Madison Hildebrand and Chad Rogers will once again entertain us with their real estate adventures and competitive cat fights.

It’ll be interesting to see how these guys, who flew so high on the coattails of the LA real estate market, will handle the downturn faced by many California homeowners. Somehow, I think they will manage just fine. After all, Chad has to make the big bucks to keep his hair in its optimum bowl shaped style.

Million Dollar Listing premieres on Bravo on Monday, October 12 at 10 p.m. Central. We’ll be watching!

Home decor at reasonable prices is always a fun find, and Nicole Jane Home puts their best foot forward in that department. Be sure to check out their throw pillows, several of which will be magically appearing in my own home in the near future. Funny how that happens.

3 Desk Reveal, Plus a Little Something Extra

>> Saturday, September 26, 2009

I promised to post photos this week of our desk in its newly transformed state, and since the week is almost over, here they are! Before we reveal our new and much improved desk, let’s recap for a moment, shall we?

When I stumbled across this little guy (click here to see the back story), he was caked in dust and suffering from a curious case of faux wood laminate—think of it as a bad toupee for furniture…

Nonetheless, with just a bit of work, we knew the desk would make a great addition to our home office. Once primed, painted and outfitted with new hardware, this study companion was ready to roll.

Well, look who else managed to sneak their way inside…

Remember this guy before?…

Not much of a difference, you say? You are right! All we did was give him a good scrub and strategically place a few accessories. No elbow grease required here.

Two more projects checked off the Rehabilitation Station to do list, but no worries. There is always another project lurking in the garage. Happy living!

2 Pretty in Pink

>> Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Some rooms are just so pretty, I simply have to take note. Now, granted a color scheme of this sort would be a hard sell in my personal home—Eric D. Wilkerson would definitely put his foot down if I hauled home pink table lamps with matching throw pillows and I definitely understand. Pink is the least manly of colors, but I still love the ultra girly feel this room offers.

0 Fabulous Fall Finds

>> Tuesday, September 22, 2009

Aside from increasing my Starbuck’s pumpkin spice latte consumption, fall encourages many of us to add a little seasonal gourd decor to our own spaces.

These pumpkin finds will take your home from summer to fall in a snap…

Although Kirkland’s sometimes reminds me of mom jeans, their pumpkin candleholder adds a fun seasonal touch for just $9.99…

Continuing this pumpkin parade, rattan versions from Pottery Barn and Target bring just enough fall flair to keep in step with the season without turning your home into a second grade classroom…

Happy fall, ya’ll!

5 Reasons to Buy a Home Now

#1  You may get a fat tax credit.

#2  Prices are scraping bottom.

#3  Foreclosures are at record highs.

#4  Rates are cheap.
#

5  Demand is growing.

While all points made are valid reasons to jump into the real estate world—the $8000 tax credit is calling first time buyers, interest rates are at historical lows, and home sales are growing—for the Little Rock market, #2 and #3 are slightly less comparable to national trends.

While you can absolutely find a home for a good price in Little Rock, our home prices have remained relatively steady and in many areas have increased. As for foreclosures, we have seen a slight jump in quantity, but have avoided the situations faced by other markets.

0 Fireplace Before & After

>> Sunday, September 20, 2009

Check out this fireplace makeover…

Before:

The fireplace was a great feature of the room, but in it’s current state was a bit more of an eyesore than a selling point.

After:

The renovated fireplace blends seamlessly with the wall and while still functional, also serves as an contemporary focal point for the room.

0 Name that house!

>> Saturday, September 19, 2009

Look familiar?

image
Alright. I’ll give you a smidge of a hint. In one of the best movies of all time—I didn’t say it would be an unbiased hint—a red Ferrari crashes into the ravine below.

Yes! It’s the house/garage from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and it’s on the market for $2.3 million. Tucked away in the woods of Highland Park, Illinois, the 4 bedroom/4 bath house  has stunning panoramic views with floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

0 Wall Art on a Whim

>> Thursday, September 17, 2009

Now that the desk is finished—I promise to post pictures next week of our fabulous fellow in all his gray glory—we are getting Eric all settled in his office. As we all know “getting settled” brings with it plenty of bare wall space to fill.

One of my absolute hands down favorite activities to do when I am feeling creative is stroll the aisles of any and every thrift store in search of a crafty find to inspire me. Savers in North Little Rock delivered on this one! I found a stack of frames that had seen better days for just a buck a pop and turned them into wall art in their own right. Who says a frame needs a photo to serve a purpose?

IMG_2825

An old apple crate that had been collecting dust in our garage since Eric brought it home with him after a trip to his parents house fits in perfectly with our frame friends. Topped off with a vase that we already had hanging around and a piece of coral from our last trip to Mexico.
